Manual Pairing of 2 HdwBTRS232
Bluetooth Wireless Serial Adapter

Pairing adapters forces two adapters to connect to each other when powered up. This details how to manually pair two HdwBTRS232 wireless adapters. One adapter will be referred as Adapter1 and the other Adapter2.

  1. Make sure power is disconnected from both adapters.
  2. Start Hyperterm (or your favorite terminal emulator)  opening it selecting the COM port that will be used. Set the parameters as follows:
    1. Baud: 19200
    2. Parity: None
    3. Length: 8 bits
    4. Stopbits: 1 Stopbit
    5. Flow control: None
  3. Apply power to adapter1.
  4. Slide switch on adapter1 towards the DB9 connector.
  5. Use a paper and hold click reset switch for 5 seconds.
  6. Plug adapter1 into serial port.
  7. Type the following commands. OK should be the response for each command except where otherwise noted. <ENTER> means hit the enter key,.
    1. ATB?<ENTER>
      1. The 12 digit hexadecimal number returned is the address of this adapter.
      2. Write this number down without the dashes if any (12 digits only)
    2. ATZ0<ENTER>
    3. ATR0<ENTER>
    4. ATO0<ENTER>
    5. ATP=1234<ENTER>
  8. Unplug adapter1 from serial port
  9. Remove power from adapter1.
  10. Apply power to adapter2.
  11. Slide switch on adapter2 towards the DB9 connector.
  12. Use a paper and hold click reset switch for 5 seconds.
  13. Plug adapter2 into serial port.
  14. Type the following commands. OK should be the response for each command except where otherwise noted. <ENTER> means hit the enter key,.
    1. ATB?<ENTER>
      1. The 12 digit hexadecimal number returned is the address of this adapter.
      2. Write this number down without the dashes if any (12 digits only)
    2. ATZ0<ENTER>
    3. ATR1<ENTER>
    4. ATP=1234<ENTER>
    5. ATD=XXXXXXXXXXXX<ENTER>
      1. XXXXXXXXXXXX is the 12 digit hexadecimal address of adapter1.
      2.  Be sure to use just the 12 digits returned from adapter1.
  15. Unplug adapter2 from serial port
  16. Remove power from adapter2.
  17. Apply power to adapter1.
  18. Plug adapter1 into serial port.
  19. Type the following commands. OK should be the response for each command except where otherwise noted.
    1. ATD=XXXXXXXXXXXX<ENTER>
      1. XXXXXXXXXXXX is the 12 digit hexadecimal address of adapter2.
      2.  Be sure to use just the 12 digits returned from adapter2.
  20. At this point the two adapters are be paired and the baud rate, parity, stopbits, etc. are set as indicated  in item 2.
  21. Test adapter pairing
    1. Apply power to adapter1 and adapter2.
    2. If the Bluetooth light stops blinking, staying on solid, then pairing was successful.
    3. If you need to change baud rate, parity, or stopbits then continue to item 20 otherwise you may stop here.
  22. To change the baudrate type the following.  Note that after changing the baud rate you will get OK. Before sending any other command, you need to change Hyperterm (or terminal program) to that baudrate.
    1. ATL0 <ENTER>  "To set 4800 baud"
    2. ATL1 <ENTER>  "To set 9600 baud"
    3. ATL2 <ENTER>  "To set 19200 baud"
    4. ATL3 <ENTER>  "To set 38400 baud"
    5. ATL4 <ENTER>  "To set 57600 baud"
    6. ATL5 <ENTER>  "To set 115200 baud"
    7. ATL6 <ENTER>  "To set 230400 baud"
    8. ATL7 <ENTER>  "To set 460800 baud"
  23. To change the parity type the following.  Note that after changing the parity you will get OK. Before sending any other command, you need to change Hyperterm (or terminal program) to that parity.
    1. ATM0 <ENTER>  "To set No Parity"
    2. ATM1 <ENTER>  "To set Odd Parity"
    3. ATM2 <ENTER>  "To set Even Parity"
  24. To change the stopbits type the following.  Note that after changing the stopbits you will get OK. Before sending any other command, you need to change Hyperterm (or terminal program) to that number of stopbits.
    1. ATK0 <ENTER>  "One Stopbit"
    2. ATK1 <ENTER>  "Two Stopbit"
