 Wireless Serial Adapter with Fanuc Controller (LM058 / LM158 / BTD-433)

Campbell's Machine Shop usage of our Bluetooth Wireless Serial / RS232 Port adapter (HdwBTRS232).

Wireless serial adapter with Fanuc controller - Wireless RS232

Wireless device (LM058 & LM158) on a Fanuc OM control but it also works on our Fanuc 21T.

In the normal hardwired setup to communicate with a Fanuc with rs232 capability we make up a cable with the following connections:

25 to 25 pin setup

  • Jumper pins 4(RTS) and 5(CTS) together at controller end.

  • Jumper pins 6(DSR), 8(DCD), & 20(DTR) together on controller end.

  • Pins 2(TX) and 3(RD) are cross connected in the cable to pins 3 & 2 respectively at the other side

  • Wire 7 is connected to 7 signal ground

25 pin to 9 pin adapter

  • Jumper 4(RTS) and 5(CTS) together on 25 pin side.

  • Jumper 6(DSR), 8(DCD), and 20(DTR) together on 25 pin side.

The Fanuc uses XON / XOFF flow control through the signal wires 2&3 to control the data stream but it has to have the pins jumpered in the connector to work right.

There is a lot of software available to send and receive to a Fanuc using hardwired serial ports. We happen to use BOBCAD but others should work too.

The Bobcad software is set at:

Baud 9600
Databits 7
Parity Even
Stopbit 1
Flow control XON/XOFF
Line Delay 250 milliseconds

Wireless Serial Bluetooth Adapter (LM058 & LM158) is set at:

Baud 9600
Databits 8
Parity None
Stopbit 1
Flow control Hardware

The Fanuc is set at:

Baud 9600
EIA/ISO ISO
Stopbits 1
Tape Leader No Tape Leader Feed

The unit on the PC side is powered from the USB cord and the unit on the Fanuc side is powered from the wall adapter. Everything else works just like it did when it was a hard wired setup.
