Software Co.(WCSC) is proud to announce COMM-DRV/LIB version 16.0. It has been over a year
since our last upgrade and we are sure you won't want to miss the new features and
enhancements of this version.
WCSC continues to add value to the COMM-DRV/LIB product while
maintaining the best price/performance ratio of any serial communication library/DLL/tool
on the market. This one product now supports MS-DOS, Windows 3.x, Windows NT, and Windows
95!!.
As promised, the COMM-DRV/LIB v16.0 Upgrade is 100% upwardly compatible
with our previous versions. We know your time is valuable and our commitment to
compatibility stands. Given that we added 32 bit support for Windows NT, and Windows 95,
this was no easy task. As usual, it was difficult to get the enhancements without
adversely affecting compatibility, but we got there successfully.
This upgrade offers new features for both our 16 bit users and those
migrating their applications to the WIN32 specification.
· Manual Updated
We took all your suggestions and made the COMM-DRV/Lib manual extremely
comprehensive. The description of each function now has an example usage sub-section, a
section with related functions, and any caveats that may be present. Chapters were added
for COMM-DRV/Lib's use with QuickBasic, Visual Basic, Access, Windows 95, Windows NT, and
more.

· On Line Help Updated
Online help is now provided. You can now search for help by function,
topics, and more. For those who hate written manuals, this is a long awaited blessing.
· Support for third party communication drivers
COMM-DRV/Lib now support third party Windows drivers. This dramatically
leverages user software to support any hardware device that is not supported directly by
COMM-DRV/Lib's low level software.
· New and Improved Modem Functions
Several modem functions were added. Existing functions were enhanced.
All modem functions that read data from the serial stream can now call a user function
with the data being read. This is great for user information and for debugging purposes.
· Improved GetString()
GetString()'s end of line delimeter is now configurable. You can now use
this function to get a packet delimited by any particular byte. This is very useful in
writing simple custom protocols.
· New and Improved Input Scanning Functions
A new family of Waitfor() functions was added that is not dependent on
NULL terminated strings. These functions work on binary streams as well.
· WIN16 and WIN32 support under Windows 95
COMM-DRV/Lib now supports WIN16 applications as well as WIN32
applications for Windows 95.
· WIN16 and WIN32 support under Windows NT
COMM-DRV/Lib now supports WIN16 applications as well as WIN32
applications for Windows NT.
· More detailed Windows & MS-DOS Examples
We added and/or modified examples to assist our users in using
COMM-DRV/Lib.
