How do I use COMM-DRV/Dos
with WCSC PCI multiport cards under Windows 98, Me, 95?
|
Following is the procedure to use WCSC PCI multiport
cards with COMM-DRV/Dos under Windows 98, Me, 95. Note that
COMM-DRV/VxD is required as well.
- Install the multiport cards and their respective
drivers.
- Install COMM-DRV/VxD either from the CD/diskette or
manually as described in manual/online documentation. Make sure that it is
installed with the number of ports that will be needed by COMM-DRV/Dos.
- Reboot the computer.
- Install COMM-DRV/Dos as described in the
manual/online documentation.
- Configure the configuration file to use Cardtype 8.
This forces COMM-DRV/Dos to use COMM-DRV/VxD for its services. There are two
ways to setup the configuration files.
Method 1 assumes
that you will launch one MSDOS window and run all ports from that one
window. Method 2
assumes that you will run one serial port for each instance of an opened
MSDOS window.
