Serial
communication has come a long way. It has always been
characterized by
-
running of bulky and not
so attractive cables,
-
wiring in difficult to
reach places,
-
distance restriction of
RS232 signals,
-
expensive serial
multiport solutions to connect many devices like CNC
machines, data loggers, PBXes, timecard machines, and
other acquisition devices to one or more PCs.
Wireless RS232 adapters
provide the solution for the above listed issues. Wires for
virtually any application that requires a serial cable to
connect devices may be replaced with wireless serial
adapters creating a safer and more streamlined environment.
The device is bidirectional and transmits and acquires data
concurrently.
Basic Scenarios

Bluetooth
Wireless RS232 adapters used as a cable replacement
between two devices with serial ports. The two devices may
be up 100 meters (~328 feet) apart. With the addition
of two of our
high gain
antenna distances approach 1000 meters line of sight.

Bluetooth
Wireless RS232 adapters used to connect wirelessly
between a device with a serial port and a PDA with built in
Bluetooth capabilities. The two devices may be up 100 meters
(~328 feet) apart. With the addition of two of our
high gain
antenna distances approach 500 meters line of sight.

Bluetooth
Wireless RS232 adapters used to connect wirelessly
between a device with serial port and a laptop with built in
Bluetooth capabilities or with any computer using our
USB/Bluetooth
Dongle. The two devices may be up 100 meters (~328
feet) apart. With the addition of two of our
high gain
antenna distances approach 500 meters line of sight.
Advanced Scenarios

One
Bluetooth
Wireless RS232 adapter may be used to connect/disconnect
to any number of adapters. A poll/log application can be
setup to round robin through any number of devices
download/upload data.

A Bluetooth enabled laptop, desktop, server, PDA, or any
of these devices with a
Bluetooth Dongle can
create a Piconet and address up to 7
Bluetooth
Wireless RS232 adapters as 7 independent COM ports that
can send and receive data concurrently (e.g., COM4, COM5,
COM6, COM7, COM8, COM9, COM10).

WCSC developed a new
configuration utility for the Bluetooth Wireless Adapter
(P/N HdwBTRS232) that makes configuration extremely easy and
foolproof. It also includes a command line configuration
utility automation where large quantities of the device will
be used.
Most of serial
communication library are fully compatible with Windows
Vista. Following is the list of products and their
compatibility matrix.
* Note applications built for mobile devices only ** Applications may be developed under Windows Vista but
will only run on Windows 2003, XP, 2000, or NT.
